Penny MARLER 1955

 

Sculptor who practised in cold casting in ciment, plaster and bronze resin, born in Birmingham. After qualifying as a physiotherapist in 1976, was self-taught as a sculptor, also attending night classes with Helen Collis, 1989-90. Was a member of Society of Sussex Sculptors, exhibiting with them at Hove Museum and Art Gallery, 1993, Charlston Farmhouse, Firle 1994-5, Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, 1995, and elsewhere. Solo exhibitions included Neale House, East Grinstead, 1993 and 1994. After working figuratively, later tried “to abstract my work down to essential elements, concentrating on planes of movement and simplification”. Lived in Hove, Sussex.
